How we work · And what falls out of it

Six principles.

These shape compensation, hiring decisions, what we say yes to and what we decline. They're also why this list is short and we don't have a Slack channel for memes.

Async by default.

Most coordination happens in writing — long-form docs, not Slack threads. We have ~3 scheduled meetings per person per week.

Small team, real tenure.

We hire slowly, onboard carefully, and aim to keep people for the long run. We do not plan to be a 200-person company.

Independently owned. No exit pressure.

No outside investors, no board to answer to. Decisions optimize for the next ten years, not the next quarter.

The product team is small. The bar is high.

Senior engineers, full-stack, ship-end-to-end. No QA team; engineers test their own work. No PMs; engineers talk to customers directly.

One job, not three.

If you're hired as an engineer, you write code. If you're hired in CS, you talk to customers. We resist "wearing many hats" by hiring specifically.

Time is the real currency.

4-week vacation minimum, enforced. No "unlimited PTO" theater. We close for two weeks in December. We do not work weekends.

How we hire

Our process.

Five stages, roughly three to four weeks end-to-end. We respect your time — we'll tell you within a week if we're not moving forward, and pay $250 for the work-sample stage regardless of outcome.

Stage 01

Application

We read every one. Reply within 5 business days, whether yes or no.

Stage 02

Intro chat

45-min video call with the hiring manager. About fit, about the role, about your questions.

Stage 03

Work sample

Take-home or pair task, ~3–5 hours. $250 paid on submission. Mirrors real work.

Stage 04

Team day

3–4 short conversations with future teammates. Architecture, values, deep work, q&a.

Stage 05

Offer

Founder reference call + offer within 48h. References from your side, on your timing.
